Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers about how GAP Marketplace works, what we are, and what we're not.

Answers marked with this symbol contain legally-precise platform disclosures about GAP Marketplace's role. They are written to be accurate, not softened.

Platform Basics

Some listings on GAP Marketplace are sample listings — illustrative examples of the boat types and price ranges available in this market. Sample listings are clearly labeled and do not represent specific boats currently for sale. When you inquire on a sample listing, a GAP Marketplace team member follows up to connect you with real available inventory.

GAP Marketplace is a new marketplace launching with sample listings while we onboard licensed dealers in Lake Havasu City and the Phoenix area. As real dealer inventory comes online, it replaces the samples. Real listings will be clearly identified as current dealer inventory.

GAP Marketplace is not a party to any sale. When you find a listing you are interested in and submit an inquiry, GAP Marketplace connects you with the seller or with available inventory in your area. The transaction — if any — is between you and the seller. GAP Marketplace does not negotiate prices, hold funds, execute contracts, or participate in the closing of any sale.

GAP Marketplace is a listing platform. The seller is the counterparty in any transaction. GAP is not the seller, not the broker, and not the agent.

A member of the GAP Marketplace team receives your inquiry and follows up to connect you with the seller or with available inventory in your area. On sample listings, GAP follows up directly — you are not connected to an individual seller through a sample listing. On real dealer listings (coming as we onboard dealers), GAP connects you with the dealer.

There is no commitment to buy when you inquire. It is the first step in a conversation, not a transaction.

Listings & Sellers

GAP Marketplace does not currently operate a verification program for listings or sellers. The listings on GAP Marketplace are either (a) sample listings created by GAP Marketplace to illustrate available boat types and price ranges in this market, or (b) dealer listings authorized by dealers who have completed GAP Marketplace's onboarding process.

Sample listings are clearly labeled and do not represent specific boats for sale. For onboarded dealer listings, GAP Marketplace requires dealers to represent that their listings are accurate and that they hold applicable dealer credentials — but GAP Marketplace does not independently audit or verify those representations. Buyers should verify all material facts (title, condition, HIN, seller identity, lien status) independently before completing any purchase. See the Buyer Safety page for guidance.

GAP Marketplace is currently launching in Lake Havasu City and the Phoenix area, with boats as the primary vehicle type. We are expanding as we onboard dealers and grow the platform.

If you are looking for inventory in another area or vehicle category not yet covered, contact us — we want to know what you're looking for.

Safety & Buyer Guidance

GAP Marketplace is a listing platform, not a buyer-protection service. GAP Marketplace does not operate a buyer protection program, does not hold purchase funds in escrow, and does not guarantee any transaction, seller representation, or boat condition.

Buying a boat is a significant purchase that carries risk regardless of the platform or source. GAP Marketplace provides buyer education on the Buyer Safety page to help you evaluate listings and sellers carefully. Following that guidance is the best way to protect yourself — GAP Marketplace cannot do it for you.

If you have concerns about a listing, contact GAP Marketplace and we will assist where we can. We are a new marketplace and we take listing accuracy seriously — but we are not a guarantor or insurer of any transaction.

Before committing to any boat purchase, experienced buyers verify title and HIN, commission a qualified marine survey, conduct a sea trial, and confirm the seller's identity against the title. Our Buyer Safety guide covers the full checklist in detail, including scam red flags to watch for.

Pricing & Business Model

GAP Marketplace operates on a dealer subscription model. Dealers pay a monthly or annual subscription fee to list their inventory on the platform. Browsing and inquiring on listings is free for buyers — there is no fee, commission, or charge of any kind to buyers. GAP Marketplace does not charge buyers a transaction fee, take a percentage of any sale, or receive any compensation from a sale transaction between a buyer and a seller.

Yes. Browsing listings and submitting inquiries is completely free for buyers. No account, no subscription, no fees — ever. GAP Marketplace's revenue comes entirely from dealer subscriptions, not from buyers.
